Together with Rt Hon Baroness Scotland, Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Professor Nasser D. Khalili launched the “Faith in the Commonwealth” and “Peace at the Crease” cricket cup match between the Vatican XI and a Commonwealth Interfaith XI at Lords. He was joined  by Matt Hancock, Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, diplomats, religious and community leaders and renowned cricketers including Sir Clive Lloyd, former captain of the West Indies cricket team.

“Cricket is one of many things that bind the 53 Commonwealth countries – when used strategically cricket can make a valuable contribution to building communities, promoting unity and connecting people across religions, cultures, races and regions,” Baroness Scotland said. “I’d like to especially thank Professor Khalili for his visionary support and substantial contribution to the Faith in the Commonwealth initiative”.
